    And,Harvey.Are you a magpie?

  5. crinohomura says:

  6. vano9629 says:

Enjoyed playing this episode very-very much (well, just like the previous ones 🙂 )

By the way, is it possible to find any information about the general plot of this game series? Maybe there’s some kind of written story or anything like that?

(sorry for mistakes, English is not my native language)

  13. Julez says:

    ‘Bug Report’ – SPOILER!!!!

I just played it for the third time and want to tell you that you can still see Mr. Rabbit after he rings the doorbell…and also after the “Boom, haha”-moment….
Just so that you know 🙂

    • Vasopressin says:

The Mr Rabbit who attacks Dale’s family appears to be living, whereas the Rabbit standing outside the window seems to be a shadow form… I’m not sure they are the same, so perhaps this isn’t a bug. Bear in mind that in Hotel, the shadow form of Mr Rabbit floats past the window in his room while he is still alive. Given his note, it seems Mr Rabbit is attacking Dale’s family to enable him to stop being/becoming a shadow or something (how is this so complicated???)

      • Adam D says:

Maybe the rabbit outside RLH window is the one who freed the other hotel guests. I think i need to make an organized timeline to prevent myself from confusion and paradox.

  14. Kaede says:

I am so glad you released the next Cube Escape game so early. I played all of them from the very first release and I need to admit that I am really mesmerised by and fascinated with the plot and the mysterious atmoshere of each episode. Your games are unique, can’t wait to enjoy other pieces. Good job, Rusty Lake!

  15. Julez says:

Seems legit. Thanks for correcting me 🙂

Actually I never noticed the shadow-rabbit in RLH…how could it even exist? Wasn’t the shadow-form created after we “stabbed” him? And if not: wasn’t it kept safe in one of the black cubes in Mr Owls room??

And about your last point: if you are right he would’ve tried to stop BEING a shadow…because after you travel back in time he is still outside – so this should be a way to interpret it…

Anyways: thanks so much for your opinion and these hints 🙂

    • Vasopressin says:

I only noticed when I was replaying Hotel recently, and I thought the same. However, as the old man says…

“The past is not dead, it is not even past.”

  16. Julez says:

    That’s true…
I’ll try it myself, too 😉

Thanks for sharing you thoughts with me. I enjoyed sharing opinions with you 🙂

  17. Julez says:

    I just saw it – creepy ^^

Well I have another idea: how about those two rabbits being different persons?

In “Birthday” Mr Rabbit’s letter says that he is sorry for doing “this” but this is the only way for him to be saved…
Maybe the white rabbit is after him and he can’t kill it himself…so he gives us the weapon – knowing that this will traumatize the nine year old boy…

What do you (or anyone else) think about this? 🙂

  18. Bob says:

Played twice and the cat won’t poop the key. What am I missing?

  19. Bob says:

I fed him the fish and it was hanging out of his mouth. Is there something else he should do?

  20. James says:

I am not sure that this Mr.Rabbit is the same as the one from RLH, they look very different… Also, the object “from a past life”that the rabbit was looking for seems to be the gun… Perhaps he wanted to use it on himself from the beginning? Seeing how his cube turns white as he dies from gunshot, this might well have been his plan. On a side note, doesn’t the grandfather look an awful lot like Mr.Crow? Since these beings were alive for centuries… What if? Mr.Owl speaks about what Dale is “meant to be”… With such an ancestor, one can only shiver at the prospect of the FATE Dale might be bearing…

  21. James says:

I just remembered, there is writing on the chest, seems to be sanskrit and thai? Could we know its meaning?

    • Adam D says:

I’ve translated it, प्रेत (read as “pret”) means “phantom” but the other three symbols i’m not sure.

      • CD9 says:

The writing on the right side of the chest is in Laotian and appears to have a similar meaning to the other text (“ghost” or “demon”). It’s strange that the more common “ຜີ” is not used, which is the typical word for “ghost”. Perhaps they were going for a darker connotation.

    • Vj says:

Preta(creepy black ghost)- spirit of the dead
      Tiryagyoni(fish)- womb of creation
      Dheva(?)- kinda like angels
      Asura(gentlemanly crow)- the demon equivalent
      Manush(lady)- human being
      Narak(forest)- hell

  22. Julez says:

I totally agree with your theory about the grandfather being mr crow. The question would be why he is able to talk with a human voice…after all mr crow usually sounds like a robotic creep on the phone 😀

And about mr rabbit…as long it is all about “mr rabbit” i assume there is only one person named “mr rabbit” – so the letter is from the same one that stayed at rlh (99.99% sure about this). But maybe the letter isn’t from the white rabbit although it would be the first thing to assume given that there is no other rabbit nearby in ‘birthday’…(excluding the shadow-thingy) ^^

Another question…: if i get this right dale is seen in the elevator in the last scene of rlh – which is still 1893 or 1894. Is this the exact moment he does this?
I’m just wondering because it is 1972 when we start ‘birthday’ in the exact same elevator…
So birthday starts right after the end of case 23 – but still…why is the elevator going up?
When we went DOWN in case 23 the exact same words were “said” by dale that were said while going UP in birthday…

But the first question appears to be more important: (why) was dave in the elevator (and thus RLH) twice? Is he coming back in 1972 to fulfill his FATE? 🙂

Sorry for the long post…I’m really sorry ^^

    • Julez says:

Accidently postet it twice…feel free to remove one post of your choice with this one 😀

    • Adam D says:

Maybe after dale “reached” the lake, it’s like alice in wonderland and the hotel is on the other side. I think in RLH, we see the prophecy of Dale via the white cube. Makes me wonder where that white cube came from. Also Mr Rabbit shadow form is different compared to the others, he had a white head instead of just plain black/grey.

  24. AJ says:

Where can we find the music used in both halves of the game?

  25. James says:

Those are some interesting points, Julez. I hadn’t thought about Mr.Crow’s voice, but since Dale was apparently a friend of Harvey, It might be safe to assume that he has a few of these beings among his relatives. As for the date incoherence, since the elevator is under the lake’s surface, where memories seem to exist as objects, perhaps this happens outside of earthly time… Also, I just checked RLH: Mr.Rabbit’s shadow (in Mr.Owl’s room) has a face identical to the rabbit in birthday, this is also the only shadow to have an actual face…

  26. Julez says:

Yes James you are right! This makes sense!
But somehow…this whole discussion doesn’t really help us understand the true story 😀

  27. Lia says:

When I first saw Dale’s parents I thought of the crow and fish from the Harvey’s Box episode.

Just another thing… how did the parrot send a letter to his future owner? 😀 any ideas?

  28. Julez says:

Wait a second…when did dale own harvey?

    Harvey:
    RLH – employee
    Lake – X
Seasons – owned by player (lady or shadow)
    Arles – X
Box – transported (maybe to the lake)
Case 23 – his box is at the lake
Mill – as a non human’ parrot

  29. Julez says:

I just hate it when I accidently touch the ‘submit’ button -.-

    As I was saying:
Mill – as a ‘non human’ parrot (owned by nobody and/or just assisting mr crow and mr owl)
    Birthday – nowhere…

And about the letter thing: well…since harvey used to have a human form of a parrot (as seen if you enter the RLH code in birthday) he shouldn’t have a problem with writing (mr owl is able to write, too…as seen in the mill).
And “knowing about the future” or something isn’t a problem either. You know: the past is never dead. It is not even past.
So how about a future harvey writing the letter in the past? 🙂
