Rusty Lake

Dear visitor,

Welcome to Rusty Lake, a surreal place where anything can happen. We offer you the most mysterious game series you'll ever play.

Why not try out our praised Cube Escape series first? Let the cubes guide you the eerie and atmospheric point-and-click adventures with an "escape room" feeling. Currently we have ten Cube Escape games taking place in the Rusty Lake universe. Cube Escape: Paradox is our latest installment which is combined with a short film! Download them for ten on iOS, Android or play on Desktop.

Next to our Cube Escape series we created three premium adventure games with unique story lines taking place in Rusty Lake as well. Serve deadly dinners to five animal-headed guests in Rusty Lake Hotel, expand the bloodline of the Vanderbooms in our award-winning adventure Rusty Lake: Roots or stop the ten plagues on a small island in Rusty Lake Paradise.

On the right, you can find a list of all our games sorted by release date.

On our game portal you can play our free games but also find other adventure, room escape and puzzle games. We selected games with a fascinating story, ambiance or unique game-play made by more forward-looking developers.

Check out our blog, social media or newsletter for new updates and content.

We wish you a pleasant stay in Rusty Lake!

One Month at the Vanderboom Estate 🏡

Can you believe it’s already been a month since we all boarded the carriage to Rusty Lake to work for the demanding Vanderboom family? 🤩

@rustylake

1️⃣ Month of Servant of the Lake 🦐 Take a trip down memory lane and revisit your weekend at the Vanderboom Estate. 🥣 Thank you so much for playing Servant of the Lake. Thousands of signed contracts, 30k+ Servant’s Notes on our website, incredible fan art creations, countless theories, and an overwhelmingly positive Steam review rate. We appreciate your endless support. 🖤 Haven’t played yet? Check out the link in our bio. 🔗 What was your favourite level? Servant of the Lake has been one of our most ambitious titles to date, and we were over the (blood)moon 🌒 to see your positive reactions to the new gameplay mechanics, callbacks to Rusty Lake: Roots, a haunting new OST, and, most importantly, the plot twist ending! Now, one month later, it’s time to hop back into the carriage and recap what’s happened since we released Servant of the Lake.

Haven’t had a chance to play yet? 🤔 Embark on your journey as the new Servant of the Lake now! 🐴

Thank you! Your ongoing support has been incredible!

We cannot talk about the last month without thanking our dedicated community. 🙏 Thanks to you, Servant of the Lake has been one of our most successful releases to date. At launch, the game peaked at over 28’000 concurrent players, with thousands more joining later (that’s a LOT of servants worldwide; the manor was spotless 🫧…). Soon after, we got an ✨ Overwhelmingly Positive ✨ review score on Steam. And just now we found out that Servant of the Lake is in the top 50 games released on Steam in August 2026! 🥳

That’s not to say we didn’t encounter a few bumpy rides at launch, with some players experiencing missing items or save/load bugs. We deeply appreciated your patience as we worked quickly to patch the error, ensuring everyone could continue their playthrough uninterrupted. 🪲🧹

Over 30’000 servants left us a note on www.servantofthelake.com! 📜 Your messages, theories, and comments were so heartwarming to read. Now our morning routine includes reading your notes over a “damn fine” cup of coffee. ☕ If you’re still unsure how to leave us a note, we recommend that you collect all achievements in Servant of the Lake. This will guide you on the right path and reveal a location that’s yet to be discovered.

We also received a tonne of outstanding fan art! Your talent always leaves us amazed. 🤩 Some of you even shared Servant of the Lake-themed art a few hours after the game was launched; talk about servants who work fast! Check out this amazing selection, and that’s only a small taste. The Vanderboom Gallery has new works on display 🎨 – but beware, there might be spoilers for those who are yet to complete the story of the game!

Compared to our previous releases, Servant of the Lake was more narrative-driven, and so many of you commented on how the characters (and Estate) felt alive. And how could we not mention Kate and Rustie in this newsletter? They seem to be the clear fan favourites. 🐱 In the upcoming weeks, with new #SotLDevlogs, we will shed more light on our talented voice cast and dive deeper into the design/puzzles that shaped Servant of the Lake. 🧩

We could say so much more, but that will have to wait (for now). 👁️ Until then, truly, thank you so much for all your support. If you haven’t yet, please feel free to leave us a review on the platform of your choice; it helps us a lot. ⭐

One month! It feels longer than that, honestly, haha. Servant of the Lake was one of the best games of the series in my opinion. I like the very mundane titles of the tasks contrasted with the content of the tasks themselves, that was funny. And Kate is most interesting, as James’s aunt and Aldous’s servant, I wonder what happened to her afterwards… a mystery. Is SHE the old lady from The Mill, turning the tables and bossing ALDOUS around instead?? I doubt it. I suppose for now we can just assume she left Rusty Lake, lived for a few decades, did nothing remarkable to Mr. Owl, and died, but. Hmm.
