Dear visitor,

Welcome to Rusty Lake, a surreal place where anything can happen. We offer you the most mysterious game series you'll ever play.

Why not try out our praised Cube Escape series first? Let the cubes guide you the eerie and atmospheric point-and-click adventures with an "escape room" feeling. Currently we have ten Cube Escape games taking place in the Rusty Lake universe. Cube Escape: Paradox is our latest installment which is combined with a short film! Download them for ten on iOS, Android or play on Desktop.

Next to our Cube Escape series we created three premium adventure games with unique story lines taking place in Rusty Lake as well. Serve deadly dinners to five animal-headed guests in Rusty Lake Hotel, expand the bloodline of the Vanderbooms in our award-winning adventure Rusty Lake: Roots or stop the ten plagues on a small island in Rusty Lake Paradise.

On the right, you can find a list of all our games sorted by release date.

On our game portal you can play our free games but also find other adventure, room escape and puzzle games. We selected games with a fascinating story, ambiance or unique game-play made by more forward-looking developers.

Check out our blog, social media or newsletter for new updates and content.

We wish you a pleasant stay in Rusty Lake!

We’re working on a new Rusty Lake Project

We’re working on a new Rusty Lake Project

Hi Guys,

First of all thanks for being an awesome community! It’s a great motivation for us to work so hard on the Cube Escape series. When we started we didn’t imagine people eagerly waiting for the next chapter. The last 6 months were like a roller-coaster ride in terms of developing: every month a new Cube Escape game. And we’re just with the two of us. But the work we’ve done is really paying off and we reached the most of our goals this year already: an awesome community supporting us, a website with rich content from many other devs and showcasing our games at events.

We have so many interesting ideas for the Cube Escape, that the series seems endless. Although we really want to keep continue this series, we don’t earn much from the games. As you guys know the games are free and in the mobile versions there are a few ads. Maybe if one of the games went viral we might continued another half year on making these series. But in order stay healthy money-wise and keep ourselves innovative we decided to start working on a new project.

And wow. We’re really excited about this new project… And of course it will take place in Rusty Lake as well (the Rusty Lake universe is big, even bigger than the Cube Escape overview we showed yesterday). Here is a sneak preview:

preview-new-project

You can expect the same randomness, creepiness and even some important figures from the Cube Escape Series. You will recognize a lot of the Cube Escape series, since the gameplay will merely the same. But we will add more replay value to it, this game won’t be finished after one play:)

Because this project will take two months of work we also decided to make the full version available on mobile (and we will look into the options to make a version available on desktop as well :)).. We will ask a small price in order to survive and eventually we will add a demo of the game to our website and the other portals. We keep you guys updated showing sketches every week!

And after this project is done (we expect a launch in November), we will turn into a demon and we won’t eat or sleep there will be a new Cube Escape….:D

Let us know what you think!

    Hey,

    the new project sounds great!
I can also recommend adding a standalone desktop HD version (I believe this model works really nice for Submachine).
Anyway I’ll be happy to support you and buy the new game as soon as it released.
If you need any ISTQB certified beta tester, just drop me an e-mail 🙂

    Cheers

  2. Harvey says:

Thank you! That’s a good idea! We will look into that option 🙂

  3. Ryan says:

I’d happily pay anything for a Rusty Lake game!

  4. Manuel Batista says:

¡Genial! Gracias por seguir sorprendiendonos. Tu trabajo es impecable 😉
¿Es mi imaginación o pasa algo sospechoso con ese reflejo en el agua?

    (google translate)
Brilliant! Please continue to surprise. Your job is impeccable;)
Is it my imagination or something suspicious happens with the reflection in the water?

  5. Kate says:

Wow! I never knew there were only 2 of you. You are so dedicated, I love it. Of course, I’ll buy your future game.

  6. Arlia says:

    Hi,

This is very good news and I really would like to discover This new game you present to us.

Nonetheless, I fear I can’t play if we can only play on mobile. People like me don’t have mobile phone compatible or don’t have any smartphone.

Why don’t you make a downloadable version ? I really understand you may need money to go on, then of course you can do a buyable version. I know that Mateusz Skutnik for example sell some of his games HD version on his website.

I hope you eventually find a solution because I’m fond of your games Web version !

    Keep it up !

  7. Lula says:

Already knowing how good cube escape has been so far, I will gladly pay for the next chapter. Keep up the great work.

  8. Tang says:

  9. A Chinese Student says:

Although I’m just a middle school student in China,I really LOVE this series. That must be the best escape series on App Store. My friends also think this series are PRETTY GOOD!I don’t know what should I say… It’s very good to pay for games. But I haven’t got a credit card:( actually every student haven’t got credit cards.
I’ll trying use my mother’s card.
Sorry about my Chinglish,.And I hope you will happy to see the this comment from the other side of the Global:)

  10. Taylor says:

I wish that people like Pewdipie would play this game. He has so many subscribers on Youtube that it’d be an instant hit and you guys would get so much more exposure!

I tried tweeting him and commented on Facebook, recommending the games to him. Slim chance of him noticing but I really want him to play one of your games.

Thanks for all the effort you two put into these beuatiful pieces of art 🙂

    • Jacob says:

Taylor, there’s a slim chance that PewDiePie or other big YouTubers would play a game like this. For example, people had asked Markiplier for months if he would play the Submachine series (similar style of games). He finally played Submachine 1 but evidently didn’t show much interest in it, as he didn’t continue the series. For big YouTubers the game would really have to hit home with a big portion of fans constantly requesting it (or however they listen to their fans’ recommendations).

That said, since I am already still pressing hard for Submachine to get noticed on the big channels, I will gladly add Cube Escape to my agenda as well 😀

    • Shruti says:

I discovered Rusty Lake only yesterday and it’s the first time I’m taken by a game so much. I thought of the same idea as you to write to Pewdiepie for Rusty Lake, so I’ll just do it. Pray he’ll do it 🙂

  11. Kariu says:

”we will turn into a demon and we won’t eat or sleep there will be a new Cube Escape” That if you guys weren’t that demon before I afraid of what you are becoming… Anyway, I can’t wait to the release! Your games are great!

  12. Yes I am a fan says:

I am very grateful that there was a such good series of games keeping updated in the past several months, especially for free! I like all the crazy stuff in your game. Your escape games differentiate from others because it is out of routin, but usually make sense!
Besides, I have a little suggestion for the revenue source of this wonderful series of games: if possible, maybe it is not bad to integrate some adds in the game. I know a lot of movies do the same stuff. As a player of a free game, I will not mind to see the warm milk in your game is from a certain brand:)

  13. Suzy G says:

I’ve just discovered your cube escape games and have played all six. THANK YOU!! I hope you’ll keep them coming. I’d happily pay for more. you deserve it. this new one looks wonderful.

  14. RAEscape says:

    Good afternoon!
    Your game is simply gorgeous!
Your game is very interesting and very popular!
I wish you great success of the new project, and I believe in it.
Please, make a new game for PC and free!

  15. null says:

    new Cube please, ToT

  16. Rachel says:

The cube escape series is fantastic, I would have no problem at all paying for a desktop game of the same quality. Shut up and take my money!

  17. Zuzulu says:

The art in the cube series is in one word gorgeous!
    I check it everyday for
    1 new cube series games
2 new games that you guys post even if I’ve already played them

I’m so exited there is going to be ( I assume ) a bigger game (or a longer one)
It is really amazing how your games became more complex and longer and still maintained that hand draw quality ( and you say you did them monthly I never noticed !)
I read that this new project comes out this month or at least the demo version could please at least say what week it is coming?
I wish I could help you guys ( but I have absolutely no knowhow on writing a game)
    anyway good luck!!!

  18. Shruti says:

Love Love Love your games and would happily pay for them! Please do not let money stop you from making games.

  19. My family members every time say that I am wasting my time here at web, except
I know I am getting experience all the time by reading such pleasant
    content.
